Even in the Bronze Age, fibulae were used to close coats and vestments. They were customary up to the Middle Ages, before they were replaced by buttons and buttonholes. Richly decorated, one has often worn fibulae as ornaments or status symbols.
Our Fibula "Sylvana" is modeled on such a jewelery. Like all our steel and iron products, hand-forged, it is decorated with two artistically designed leaves. The ring is completely twisted, so twisted in itself. After the forging, the primer was only slightly ground to give it a light wrought iron character.
Material: steel Diameter (outside): 7.5 cm Weight: 75 g
