This beautiful Urnes-style fibula is the superbly crafted replica of an original 11th-century hand-made fibula from Trollaskogur on Iceland.

The Trollaskogur-Fibel shows a large animal with curved neck and clearly recognizable front feet, whose body ends in two tails. There are two snakes, which wind around the animal`s neck and feet.

To date, the Trollaskogur brooch is considered one of the most beautiful preserved Urnes fibulae.

This fibula is a magnificent example of the Viking decoration in the animal style of the Viking Age, the Urnes style named after the famous stave church in the Norwegian village of Ornes.

This beautiful Viking decoration, like many other brooches in the Urnes style, clearly shows the great animal in the struggle with the serpent, which is generally understood as an early Christian symbol for the struggle between good and evil, but is also represented in numerous viking-temporal motifs ,

In the late Viking era there are numerous fibulae in the form of the Trollaskogur Fibel in the entire Nordic region, in England and in Northern Germany.

Dimensions of the Trollaskogur handbook: 4 x 4 cm.
